What is your name, and where do you live?
Candy Ann Little, I live in Michigan now but I grew up in Ohio.
Tell us about your current book.
Unforgiving Ghosts is the first novel I wrote. It is loosely based on personal experiences. During my darkest moments of grief I started keeping a journal. A few years later I decided to try and put my feelings into a romance novel. Two years after that I’d finished this novel. It’s been ten years since I finished it, but I’m just now getting published.
What is your favorite part of the book?
It’s kind of hard to choose but I’d say the ending. It’s so satisfying to see how Megan overcame her troubles and felt ready to move forward with her life. I always love happy endings!!
What genre do you enjoy reading?
Romance is my first choice, but I also enjoy suspense & mystery.
What fact about your life would you like to share with your readers?
God is the strongest part of my life. Over the years I’ve endured some very hard struggles and have questioned my faith, but God has always been there to guide and love me even when I was angry with him. I have my character, Megan go through some of the same emotions. I’d like my faith to be the first thing people see in me.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be, and why?
I have so many places I want to visit but if I had to choose one I’d say Ireland. I’m not positive why. I’ve always been fascinated with this country and would love to set a novel there.
Do you have any hobbies (other than writing)?
I love cooking and baking, especially decorating cakes. Other favorite hobbies are crafts, flower arrangements and center pieces. I like helping friends and family with weddings and parties. I also have a knack for decorating, which will come in handy as we’re redoing our kitchen.
What is the most exciting thing you have done?
Well, having my kids but I guess everyone says that so putting childbirth aside, It would be self publishing my books. I felt like crying when I uploaded my first novel a year and a half ago. I’d spent almost ten years trying to get it published and was ready to quit. Then some authors from Linkedin talked me into self publishing as an ebook because it didn’t cost much money. One thing led to another and soon I had it up. It was thrilling and I still feel that way with my new release even Unforgiving Ghosts is my third book. I’m thinking the excitement will probably never end.
Sweet or salty?
I’d say I eat more sweet but I have those days when it’s salty. And sometimes it’s both!!
When do you write, morning, evening, or when the urge strikes?
I prefer writing in the evening and early morning hours, but I will write whenever I hear the characters speaking in my head.
Are you working on any other books? Tell us about them.
Yes. I’m working and researching on a sequel to my first romance, The Unwilling Bride. I’m also trying to finish the second book in my Death by Broken Heart series, a cozy mystery. However I’m struggling with both books right now. I’m hoping that now I have Unforgiving Ghosts edited and up for sale that I’ll have more focus for these other books.
What do you enjoy most about writing? What do you dislike?
I love watching my characters come to life. I also find it therapeutic putting my thoughts and actions into my characters. The hardest part is the editing and revising. I learned the hard way to make sure you use a professional editor. I’m still getting slammed for mistakes in The Unwilling Bride. I hope I corrected that mistake with Unforgiving Ghosts.
If you could meet any person living or dead, real or literary, who would it be, and why?
Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. She is the reason I feel in love with romance novels. She kept me on the edge of my seat the way she combined suspense into her books. And her writing style was so poetic.
